-
Francois Hotman
-
Early French Protestant Lawyer & Author
Born Paris 23 August 1524
son of Pierre Hotman, Counsellor Parliament and his noble wife Paulette de Marle
---
He came from a very influential family on both sides,
his mother was a direct descendant of (French) Kings.
---
Francois' parents were zealous Catholics
---
He had other ideas, it was an explosive bloody period of History
---
He became one of the foremost advocates of the Protestant Reformation and was a close friend of John Calvin. He was also an advisor at times to Queen Elizabeth I of England and Catherine de Medici.
---
Alienated by his parents and native country, his life often threatened,
he fled and spent his last days in Basel, Switzerland.

The Plague of 1582 took his wife, mother to his 7 children
---
He died at Basel, Switzerland February 12th, 1590

His book is listed on Project Gutenberg. I looked at it.
